YOU DEPEND ON Fairfield Electric to deliver you with reliable power, and we take that responsibility very seriously. One major component of providing dependable service and reducing outages is maintaining the right-of-way. We have a comprehensive right-of-way maintenance program, which includes side trimming limbs next to power lines and controlling the growth underneath.
In an effort to replace some of the trees that are cut during right-of-way construction and maintenance, we are bringing back our popular TREEMendUs program this year. Through this program, we will once again give away free Crape Myrtle seedlings to our members.
The seedlings will be small and may need to be transferred to a larger container for a year or two. Before planting them, be sure to take into consideration how tall the tree will be and its spread. Crape Myrtles grow approximately 20 feet in height with a spread of 12 to 15 feet. And always plant trees at least 20 feet away from power lines. If they are too close, they will eventually have to be trimmed.
Trees are really important to our environment, and we encourage you to plant them whenever possible.
After reserving your seedlings using the link below, please plan to pick them up at Fairfield Electric’s Blythewood office on October 2, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
There is a limit of two seedlings per member. Available on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve your seedlings, please visit Fairfield.coop/treemendus and fill out the online request form or give us a call to speak with a customer service representative at (803) 754-0153. We will ask for your contact information so we can send you a reminder a few days before the event.
